Automated Responses...

Yesterday I had to call a friend who is currently in US. He works for a company which is headquartered in SFO, CA. I asked him for a number at which I could call him. He gave me the board number and the extension at which he could be reached. Then the fun started.

First, the automated msg informed that, "This number is currently out of service, if you have reached this number by error, then check the number you have dialed and try again :P. If this is the number you needed to reach ... blah blah blah...". So I got back to my friend and asked him if there was any alternate number. There was one and I dialed it. This time I was asked to dial the extension, if I knew.. I dialed in the extension, then was waiting for the phone to ring.. Right then, another automated msg.. "Please enter the first few letters of the persons last name you are trying to reach".... a pause.. "If you do not have the necessary information please hang up"!!!!!! Then another pause and another repeat of this msg.. and then the last automated msg.. "Good Bye!".. and call disconnected!!! First of all, how many is "first few".. what if the person is Indian and all u know abt his name is "only" the first name!
